Ordway Tead
One of the most influential and respected in the United States, Dr. Tead has received worldwide recognition for his writing and teaching. His many books, including Administration: Its Purpose and Performance, published in 1959, have made immeasurable contributions to education and social science. Dr. Tead vice president and director of Harpeer and Brothers, also serves the publishing firm as Editor of Social and Economic Books. Early in his life, his interests led him into consulting work and teaching in the field of labor relations. After teaching War Emergency Courses at Columbia University in 1917-18, Dr. Tead retained his connection there as Lecturer in Personnel Administration. He was also a faculty member of the Department of Industry of the New York School of Social Work for several years. The noted publisher, in addition to numerous collegiate lecture assignments, recently accepted the Ford Distinguished Visiting Professorship at New York University.
Thomas Hale Hamilton
Recognized for his valuable contributions to the concept of American education, Dr. Hamilton as served as professor, dean, administrator and author. He is now president of the second largest state university in the United States, the State University of New York. In addition to leading this highly respected university, Dr. Hamilton is active in many organizations, which determine education policies. These include the Executive Committee and the Committee on Higher Education and Civil Defense of the American Council on Education. Respected across the continent for his books and monographs on education, Dr. Hamilton has worked diligently toward solving the problems of education today. Among his works are The Control of universities in the United States, The Armed Services and Adult Education, and General Education for Teachers.
Gordon W. Blackwell
A leading educator, author and social scientist, Dr. Blackwell recently assumed the duties of President of Florida State University in Tallahassee. Previously he had served the University of North Carolina as chancellor. His principal field of study is the community, upon which he has written numerous books and articles, including Church and Community in the South and Toward Community Understanding. His contributions to education through his serving as professor, administrator and author have brought him nationwide recognition. His distinguished record also includes editing the influential journal, Social Forces, and serving as assistant editor of American Sociological Review. In 1955 Dr. Blackwell was one of a selected number of American scholars chosen to lecture in a Fulbright Conference on American Studies at Oxford University.
Allen Drury
Author of the internationally acclaimed novel, Advise and Consent, Mr. Drury presently is serving as Washington D.C., correspondent for the Reader's Digest. The noted author received the Pulitzer Prize in 1960 for his powerful best seller on the political scene in the nation's capital. The novel was recently adapted to play form and is currently a hit on Broadway. Journalist and political correspondent in Washington for many years, Mr. Drury has served as United Press Senate member, national editor for the Pathfinder Magazine, staff member of the Washington Evening Star and Senate correspondent for the New York Times. His professional work as marked by his by-line has earned the respect of millions of readers throughout the world.
