Pennsylvania Floridian
At Rollins College, on Lake Virginia in sub-tropical Winter park, Fla., a sign hangs in one of the/40 some cream and coral Mediterranean type buildings. It reads: "A classroom is a place where a teacher and a group of students come together to educate one another."
In that tradition, Rollins opened its 68th session this fall as Florida's oldest institution of higher learning. The college has adhered firmly to the Conference Plan, instituted by famed educator and late President Hamilton Holt two decades ago. There is one professor for every twelve students, and the instructors guide the individuals achievements by personal conferences and tutorials.

Even the buildings on the 45 acre campus are especially designed to provide small living units and to provide teaching facilities for small classes. The grounds are interspersed with pines and palms and live oak trees, and a luxurious verdant growth of tropical foliage stays bright and colorful the year around.
The college is located with in the city of Winter Park, on the main line of the Atlantic Coast Line Railway, 142 miles south of Jacksonville, and 105 miles northeast of Tampa. Winter Park, known as the City of Homes, is a beautiful, healthful and progressive community, located in the high pine region of Central Florida and surrounded by sparkling lakes, orange groves and sub-tropical forests. Orlando, known as The City Beautiful, adjoins the city limits of Winter Park, and has a population
