Lyman Hall, a three story dormitory for men, is located along Holt Avenue at the east side of the horseshoe. In the triangle of lawn at Lyman's north west side, Hamilton Holt placed a peace monument, which was later destroyed. The plaque on the front of the Peace Monument reads: "Pause, Passerby and hang your head in shame. This Engine of Destruction, Torture, and Death SYMBOLIZES The Prostitution of the Inventor, The Avarice of the Manufacturer, The Blood-Guilt of the Statesmen, The Savegery of the Soldier, The Perverted Patriotism of the Citizen, The Debasement of the Human Race. Thus it can be employed as an instrument in defence of Liberty, Justice, and Right in nowise invalidates, The truth of the worlds here graven. Hamilton Holt." Please see the Hamilton Holt collection for more information on the monument.
